I am thrilled to announce that this week I have begun a much anticipated stint teaching at the Eastman School of Music, as sabbatical replacement for Dr. Chien-Kwan Lin. It is incredible how far Dr. Lin and his students have developed the program since I went to school there years ago: the studio has no one iconic “sound” promoting diversity of concepts, the saxophone ensemble ESP is the flagship ensemble of the school now, Dr. Lin’s wall is littered with student prizes and accomplishments, and they are just the nicest and hardest working people ever. I’m humbled by all of them, and can’t wait to dig in over the next nine weeks.
